Day-by-day itinerary

Tourist coach or short flight to Pokhara, evening free by the lake to prepare for the trek.

Transfer Overnight Pokhara

Drive to the trailhead and trek up to the large Gurung village of Ghandruk with its stone houses and Annapurna South views.

4–5 hrs Gurung village

Descend to the Kimrong Khola and climb again to Chhomrong, the gateway to the Sanctuary.

5–6 hrs All meals

Follow the Modi Khola gorge through bamboo and rhododendron forest, gaining height steadily.

5–6 hrs Forest trail

Above the treeline into the Sanctuary proper, with Fishtail towering directly overhead.

5 hrs MBC 3,700 m

Short pre-dawn climb to ABC for sunrise on Annapurna I, then a long descent back down the valley.

ABC sunrise Long descent

Continue down to Jhinu Danda and soak in the natural hot springs by the river.

Hot springs 5 hrs

Final short walk to the road head, drive to Pokhara and onward to Kathmandu.
